One of the lowest teen pregnancy rates in the country happens to be in Wokingham, England. The number of teenage pregnancies have dropped by more than a quarter since 1998. Residents in the town have credited sex education and counseling as a reason for the decrease.

A family member of mine became pregnant at 14 years old. It was very devastating to our family to experience that. through her decision she decided to have an abortion. I guess that she felt that she or the childs father would not be able to support this baby when they were just baby's themselves.
Teen-age pregnancy was in full view during the '08 presidential race and has even been glorified by hollywood in film such as "Juno". Furthermore, all of print media also covered the pregnancy of Lynn spears, another teenage mother on the cover of a magazine, smiling as if there were no concern in the world. Well, maybe for Lynn spears who has the resources and support, but there are so many young girls around our contry that don't. Until teen pregnancy stops becoming a fad, and expoited in the media sex education is only a first step
ReplyDeletei have a aunie that had my cuzo at a young age and at frist it was very hard for her since she was so young and the fact that the father was not around to help so all the responsablity landed on my grandma but as she got older she wanted to be more in her childs life and that she is older they are still trying to get to know eachother and she had another baby but everything seems to be going well
