One of the lowest teen pregnancy rates in the country happens to be in Wokingham, England. The number of teenage pregnancies have dropped by more than a quarter since 1998. Residents in the town have credited sex education and counseling as a reason for the decrease.

Do you think that if we apply the same effort as Wokingham, would we ever be able to see a decrease in the US?

Working in a hospital I often encounter alot of teenage mothers. Most of the times these girls will be coming to their doctor visits alone. You dont often see their boyfriend or parent accompanying them and that is just the reality of this situation.

A family member of mine became pregnant at 14 years old. It was very devastating to our family to experience that. through her decision she decided to have an abortion. I guess that she felt that she or the childs father would not be able to support this baby when they were just baby's themselves.

This is a video that I found on youtube which caught my attention due to the So called Pregnancy Pact that was created by these teenagers in High School. I think that girls like these are the ones that we need to focus on to encourage them that having babies is not a Game. This is real life and these children being brought into this world are real babies that they will have to support and care for.

The Teenage Pregnancy Independent Advisory Group also known as TPIAG was set up in 2000 to advise the government on the teenage pregnancy strategy and to monitor its effect. TPIAG was put in place to tackle the causes and consequences of teenage pregnancy.

The teenage pregnancy strategy's goals are to:

- Cut the rate of conceptions to under 18 by 2010

- Increase the participation of teenage parents in education, training and employment.

Commenting on the teenage pregnancy figures Liberal Democrat Children Spokesperson, Annette Brooke said: "The Government has failed to treat this country's scandalously high teenage pregnancy rate with the urgency it needs. it looks like the progress that had been made is being reversed."

I think that young children need to be listened to in regard to how they want to learn about sex. We need to find out how they feel more comfortable learning and talking about sex education.

Many people dont know that Teenage Pregnancy is a very complex problem. In other countries they welcome it, but in our western society they present a larger problem.
